Post from Sarah

Here is a new email from Sarah. From this point forward, as Brian recovers, I'm sure the blog posts will be less frequent (hopefully one a day though), but rest assured that when there is something noteworthy (whether good or bad), we will try to keep everyone informed as much as seems appropriate.

Hi,

We have more eye opening today. When the doc was in this morning he asked Brian to hold up his thumb, and he did. When he asked him to blink his eyes if he understood him, Brian did :) We are just going to stay close and talk to him and try to get him to respond to us as much as we can. We're patiently waiting for progress and we're getting bits of it every day. At this point we don't have to worry about the injury anymore. He's healing nicely and now we're just going help him with his range of motion and keeping him comfortable and praying that the ventilator can be removed as soon as possible. He needs to be able to swallow on his own, cough and get his gag reflex back.

We'll keep you posted.

Love,
Sarah

Please keep Brian (and Sarah and family there) in your thoughts and prayers. I'm sure this time must be sleepless and tiring, but also very rewarding as he progresses (which it sounds like he is!). I know they can use all the encouragement they can get, so keep it coming.

  1. Right on Brian. Keep with it man.

This better not be a scheme to take a break from work :)

  2. Slow but steady....I think that is the course for now. I am thrilled that he understands the commands....now the rest of his body will follow as he heals. He is getting loads of love and prayers from us.

  3. Progress in any form is fantastic as it shows healing. What is happening on the inside does not always immediately show on the outside but we all know that it is happening. Brian knows that he, Sarah and Rowan are receiving love, prayers and positive energy from all around the world. Sarah, your prayers, strength and love coupled with what is coming to all of you is stronger than any injury. Aunt Linda

  4. Brian, Sarah, and Rowan,

More people are praying for you than you will ever know. I think there may be a few cracks in some churches as a result of my going inside and lighting some candles but the power of all the postive energy is strong. We love you.

  5. Brian, Sarah & Rowan,

We're with you in spirit and with many prayers. We love you guys! Brian, you are the strongest and most independent person I know. Your willpower has always and will always pull you through the most difficult of challenges. This is a whopper of a hill to climb - but you have the heart to climb it - for at the top is the most beautiful wife and child any man could ever hope for. Living in faith that your greatest victory is ahead.

    Prayer warriors are behind you,
    Love your cousins,
